Invited by the Managing Director of Electricité de Cambodge (EDC), H.E. Keo Rottanak, the German Ambassador Dr. Ingo Karsten visited the 338 MW hydropower plant at the Lower Stung Russei Chrum River in the western province of Koh Kong. The biggest hydropower plant in Cambodia which is operated by China Huadian, a Hong Kong state-owned company, on behalf of EDC produces almost one third of the electricity supply of the Cambodian electricity grid. The building of the dam and the plant was done in record time in order to increase and stabilize electricity supply in accordance with growing demand. EDC has also been cooperating with German suppliers.
